Welcome To Our Story

In 2022, I was halfway through my Psychology undergraduate degree when I realised that my true passion wasn’t just about the mind — it was about humanity and transformative justice. Completely against my cautious nature, I made the bold decision to leave my course behind and start again, this time in Criminology. It changed everything. Through my studies, I began to understand the sadness I had seen in the adults around me growing up. It all started to click: how deeply society, the economy, and systemic structures impact people’s lives. In 2024, I had the opportunity to conduct my first funded research project, Where is the Revolution?, an investigation into societal pacification through debt aversion.

Rights in Mind was born out of that journey … it’s like my child. I created it for people like me just a few years ago, feeling all these big emotions about injustice but having nowhere to channel them. Every time I tried to look deeper, I was overwhelmed by jargon and inaccessible research. Rights in Mind is a hub to bridge that gap: connecting researchers and their work directly to people, without barriers.

That’s where Dr. Gillett comes in. An impeccable clinical family psychologist with decades of experience, Dr. Gillett saw the same societal harms playing out in her field. She witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of dwindling resources on vulnerable families and individuals. Together, we wanted to advocate for a better way — for a society that supports, informs, and empowers.

Rights in Mind may not be perfect. It’s just two academics with backgrounds in mental health, doing our best to create something different. We believe that real change starts with awareness, with knowledge, and with spaces where difficult conversations can happen without fear.

That’s why we created Rights in Mind. We’re so glad you’re here.
